Saxton Oval is one of the cricket grounds located in the Nelson area of New Zealand. Established in the year 2010, this stadium is very well designed keeping in mind the eagerness of the people towards cricket. The Nelson Cricket Association took the charge of constructing this stadium with the total cost being $3.8 million. Also known as the Saxton Field, this stadium is open for other sports activities as well like football, softball, hockey and many more. But most importantly it is a cricket ground and hosts a number of cricket matches thus seeking the attention of the people. The first ever match played on this ground was the Twenty20 match in which Central Districts as well as Canterbury played together. It was definitely an exciting match with many other matches scheduled to be played here. Even women Twenty20 international match was also played at this stadium. In the coming year, Saxton Oval will also host the most awaited Cricket World Cup 2015. Some of the matches of the World Cup will be played here along with training sessions carried out for different teams. Till now, three matches are proposed to be played here as per the schedule, therefore a number of arrangements have been made for the proper hosting.
