Otago win a high scoring match against the Perth Scorchers - The 8th match of the tournament was a big one as the team from New Zealand met the team from Australia. It was a match played in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium of Jaipur. The two teams those who participated in the match was Otago and the Perth Scorchers. The Otago were put into bat by the Scorchers. Otago lost its 1st wicket in the 3rd over of the game in the form of Hamish Rutherford.  The very first ball saw the fall of the wicket of Brendon McCullum. It seemed that the Otago will be finding it difficult to score runs easily in the match. Neil Broom and Derek de Boorder managed to play some sensible cricket,to take the team out of trouble. Both the players took time to settle down and later started to hit the ball hard. Boorder after scoring 45 runs in 28 balls lost his wicket leaving his team to a score of 76/3 in the 10th over of the game. Ryan ten Doeschate showed some power hitting as he scored 66 runs of 26 balls while the top scorer was Broom who scored unbeaten 117 runs to take his team to a total of 242 runs.

The Scorchers needed a great start to score the required runs. The Perth Scorchers had a terrible start of the innings as they lost 3 wickets in just 2 overs of the innings. Adam Voges and Hilton Cartwright managed to control the flow of runs. Voges after scoring 36 runs lost his wicket in the 10th over leaving his team to 76/4. Ashton Turner and Tom Trifitt scored 27 and 25 runs respectively while the top scorer was Cartwright who scored 68 runs. These batsmen managed to take their team to a total of 180 thus losing the match. Ian Butler took 3 wickets in the match. Broom won the man of the match award for his century.
