Faf du Plessis and T Bavuma made a brilliant partnership of 179 runs for 5th wicket. T Bavuma made 71 runs, and Faf du Plessis scored most 199 runs for South Africa. He left 1 run short for his first-ever double hundred. Keshav Maharaj finished the South African inning and made brilliant 73 runs. South Africa made a huge total of 621 runs in 1st inning. W Hasaranga took most 4 wickets for Sri Lanka. South African team took a lead of 225 runs after 1st inning.
Sri Lankan batsmen disappointed their fans in 2nd inning. Sri Lankan team got all out on just 180 runs. K Parera scored most 64 runs for Sri Lanka in 2nd inning. W Hasaranga also made 59 runs. South African bowlers bowled brilliantly in 2nd inning, and Sri Lankan team got all out on 180 runs. South Africa won the test match by an inning and 45 runs and took a lead of 1-0 in the series. Faf du Plessis was awarded as the player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
