The 3rd match of the CPL 2020 was played between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Zouks on August 19, Wednesday at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. Jamaica Tallawahs had won the toss and opted to field first. The captain of Jamaica Tallawahs was Rovman Powell and Darren Sammy was the captain of St Lucia Zouks.
The Zouks openers failed to give a good start to team. Andre Fletcher got out on 22. The middle order batsman Roston Chase scored 52 runs and Afghani Batsman N Zadran also scored 25 runs. This helped team to get a total of 158 runs in their 20 over. Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 2 wickets while Andre Russell and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1 wicket each.
It was a target of 159 runs for Jamaica Tallawahs to register their first win of CPL 2020. Glenn Phillips opened the inning for Jamaica Tallawahs and made brilliant 44 runs in just 29 balls. Captain Rovman Powell also scored 26 runs but the inning played by Asif Ali helped Jamaican team to get secure win. Asif Ali scored not out 47 runs while Carlos Braithwaite scored not out 18 runs and helped Jamaica Tallawahs to have an easy victory by 5. Jamaica Tallawahs chased the target by having 7 balls to spare. Kesrick Williams took 2 wickets for St Lucia Zouks.
Asif Ali was selected as player of the match for his brilliant match winning performance. He gave a proper support to Jamaica inning in middle stage of the game and managed the required run rate comfortably that guided team to victory. Jamaica Tallawahs captain congratulated the team and appreciated the quality of cricket played by Asif Ali. The St Lucia team disappointed everyone by their batting performance. They could not finish the inning on good note and except Roston Chase no other batsman scored good runs.
