The 37th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League 2020-21 was fought between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes at Perth Stadium on 12 Jan 2021. Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and made a decision to bat first. Ben McDermott and D Arcy Short were sent to open for the Hurricanes. Jhye Richardson got the new ball to attack.
Hobart Hurricanes came under pressure when they lost their first two wickets at the score of 9 runs only. After the dismissal of Malan, Handcomb and Ingram tried to handle the situation but they could not stay longer and lost their wickets too. D Arcy Short was there on the crease when wickets were falling on the other hand. Short added much needed 54 runs to the scoreboard. Tim David also performed well under pressure and made unbeaten 31 runs from 23 balls. At the end of the 20th over, Hobart gave an easy target of 140 runs from 120 balls.
Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone came to chase the target of 140 runs for the Scorchers and Riley Meredith got the new ball to open the attack. Both the opener showed great form and built a partnership of 123 runs for the first wicket. Jason Roy made unbeaten 74 runs from 52 balls and Livingstone made a contribution of 54 runs. Perth lost the first wicket of Malan in the 15th over and comfortably achieved the target in the 17th over. Only Scott Boland took one wicket for the Hurricanes in the match.
Perth Scorchers won the 37th match of BBL 2020-21 by 9 wickets. Jason Roy was the Player of the Match for his match-winning inning.
