Team Australia is on a tour of England in 2020. The 1st T20 match between these two cricket giants was played on September 4 2020 at Rose Bowl, Southampton. The host team was captained by Eoin Morgan while the guest team was led by AJ Finch. The captain from Australian team won the toss and field first.
The inning of England side was opened by JC Buttler and JM Bairstow. Both openers started the inning with much care but Bairstow got out early at the score of 8 only. However, Malan and Buttler hold their positions and kept on adding score. Malan made 66 while Buttler made 44. No other batsman from the team could do well and as a result the English team could reach to the score of 162 at the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. From Australian side Agar, Richardson and Maxwell performed brilliantly. They each took 2 wickets.
The Australian inning was opened by Warner and Finch. They gave a good start to team and played skilfully against the bowling attack of England. Warner made 58 while Finch scored 46. They made excellent partnership of 98 runs for the first wicket. However, after these two batsmen no one could play well. Smith made 18 while Stoinis scored 23. The whole Australian team score of 160 at the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Hence they fall short of 3 runs to win. The bowlers from England side bowled well and maintained the length which kept the batsmen restricted to choose shots. From England Archer and Rashid got 2-2 wickets each. England won the match by 2 runs.
It was a neck to neck competition match where both teams played well and each player offered his full contribution. Captains of both teams were looking happy with the performance of the players in each section. Dawid Malan was declared as the player of the match due to his excellent batting performance in opening. With this victory England team has got a lead of 1-0 in the series of 3 matches. The next match may prove as a series-decider one.
