On 2nd October there was 55th match of 2020 IPL which was played between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. From DC the team was led by Shreyas Iyer while Virat Kohli led the team RCB. DC won the toss and chose to field first.
Batting first RCB openers Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Philippe started well. In the 5th over Philippe got out at an individual score of 12 runs. Virat Kohli came to bat and made quick runs with Padikkal but in the 13th over he also got out at a personal score of 29 runs. AB de Villiers joined Padikkal, and they both moved the scoreboard quickly. In the 16th over Padikkal also got out after completing valuable half-century. In the same over new batsman, Chris Morris also got out. In 20th over de Villiers also got out. Hence the inning of RCB ended with the score of 152 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. Bowling attack from DC was much impressive, which kept the batsmen select limited shots and the moment they tried to have some big shots, lost their wickets. Even fielding of DC was also good that helped them to save many boundaries and keep the score limited. From DC Anrich Northe got highest 3 wickets. Kagiso Rabada also got 2 wickets. RCB set the target of 153 for DC in 20 overs.
From Delhi, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan started the inning. Though it was a good start, as usual, Shaw got out early. Ajinkya Rahane joined Dhawan, and they both played tactfully. They made a huge partnership of 88 runs. In 13th over Dhawan got out at an individual score of 54 runs. Shreyas Iyer joined Rahane but got out in 17th over. In the 18th over Rahane also got out, but before that, he also completed his half-century. Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis completed the task of making 154 runs leaving 6 balls spared. DC won the match by wickets. The bowling section from RCB was not able to display their natural performance; however, they tried well to defend the score, but it was not possible as the score was not that big to achieve for Delhi. The player of the match was awarded to Anrich Nortje for his 3/33 bowling performance in his spell of 4 overs.
