The 43rd match of IPL 2020 was played between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 24 at Dubai International Stadium Dubai. SRH was captained by David Warner while KXIP was led by Lokesh Rahul. SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first.
From Kings XI Punjab, Lokesh Rahul and Mandeep Singh started the inning firmly. In the 5th over, Mandeep Singh lost his wicket, and SRH got its first breakthrough. He made 17 runs. Chris Gayle joined Rahul, and they carried the inning forward. In the 10th over, Gayle got out at an individual score of 20 runs, and hence team score was 66/2. In the next over, Rahul also got out, and the expectation of a big score was almost ended. Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran tried to move the scoreboard, but once again, Maxwell failed and got out at 12 runs only. Deepak Hooda also could not add more runs and got out in the 15th over. Chris Jordan and Murugan Ashwin also soon got out. Nicholas Pooran made not out 32 runs. At the end of 20 overs, the inning of KXIP got over, making 126 runs at a loss of 7 wickets. From SRH, Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan, each got 2 wickets. KXIP set a target of 127 runs for SRH to win the match, which seemed easy.
From Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow started the inning with a bang. They both played well and placed the team in a good position in the first power play. In the 7th over, Warner got out at an individual score of 35 runs. Bairstow also got out in the 8th over. He made 19 runs. Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad carried the inning forward. In the 9th over, Samad got out, but Pandey and Vijay Shankar played a good inning. In the 18th over, Shankar got out, and the match was almost in favor of SRH, but soon it took a turn. Jason Holder and Rashid Khan got out quickly in the 19th over. Priyam Garg, Sandeep Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed also got out in 20th over, and hence the inning of SRH ended at 114 at a loss of 10 wickets when one ball was yet spare. Hence KXIP won the match by 12 runs. From KXIP, Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan got the highest 3 wickets each. Chris Jordan was awarded player of the match for his 3 wickets in a spell of 4 overs.
