The 1st match of the T20 International series between South Africa and Australia was played on February 21, Friday at Johannesburg, in South Africa. The captain of visiting team Australia was Aaron Finch, while Quinton De Kock was the captain of South African team. South African captain won the toss and elected to field first.
On batting first, Australian openers could not give a good start to the team, and Warner got out early on 4 runs. Captain Finch scored 42 runs for Australia and led the team from front. Steven Smith also scored 45 runs and helped the team to get a total of 196 runs in 20 over. Dale Steyn and Shamsi took 2 wickets each for South Africa.
Chasing 197 against the quality bowling attack of Australia was never easy for South Africa. South African batting collapsed and got all out in just under 15 over on total of 89 runs. Faf Du Plessis for South Africa scored the most 24 runs. Australian bowlers bowled in right areas and dominated the match. Left-arm spin bowler AC Agar took hattrick and took his 5 wicket hall for the very first time in his cricketing life. He bowled exceptionally well and dominated over the South African batsmen. Australian team won the 1st match of the series by 107 runs and took an early lead in the series.
AC Agar was selected as player of the match award for his brilliant five wickets. That was the lowest T20 International total for South African team, and the fans look really disappointed with the performance. Australian captain looked happy and very much satisfied with combined team efforts and congratulated AC Agar for brilliant hattrick in T20 International. On the other end, South African skipper looked disappointed with team performance and promised to fight back in the next match.
