Delhi Daredevils break the Kotla Jinx against Mumbai Indians - The 21st match of the Indian Premier League was played in the feroz shah kotla stadium in New Delhi. This was a home match for the Delhi Daredevils who were hosting the Mumbai Indians. In this match the Mumbai were trying to get some form back while Delhi side were looking to break the jinx of home losses. The team has lost their last 9 home matches and thus were looking to break it. Mumbai after winning the toss decided to field first in this match.
They got the first success in 3 deliveries as they took the wicket of Mayank Agarwal who scored only 1 runs. This saw captain Jean Paul Duminy join in Shreyas Iyer in the middle. These two batsmen recorded the highest partnership for any position in IPL. They together took the team from 2/1 to 156 runs in 16.4 overs. Iyer the young player from India played some elegant shots against the best bowlers. He scored 83 runs off 56 balls before losing his wicket to Lasith Malinga. Duminy continued alone to take the team score on a mammoth score of 190 in 20 overs. He scored 78 runs in 50 balls and remained unbeaten. It was all one man show for Delhi after the departure of Iyer.
Mumbai needed a good start in order to chase the score of 191 and the openers had the capability to provide what was needed. Lendl Simmons though failed this time around scoring only 15 run he lost his wicket. Unmukt Chand and Parthiv Patel were looking dangerous but Patel after getting a start of 28 runs lost his wicket. Chand too lost his wicket after scoring only 14 runs. Kieron Pollard was one again a failure as the batting collapsed for Mumbai. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu scored 30 runs each before losing their wickets. Imran Tahir took 3 wickets in an over to restrict the Mumbai Indians to a score of 153. With this the jinx was broken by Delhi.
Imran Tahir won the HotStar of the match award while Duminy bagged the Yes Bank Maximum sixes award. Iyer was named as the man of the match.
