The South Africa cricket board has announced a visit to England to play 3 One Day International matches bilateral series in July-September 2022. The Eng vs SA ODI series 2022 will be the component of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-2023. The 3 ODI matches series between Eng and SA will begin with the first ODI at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on 19 July 2022, then both the teams will move to Manchester for the second ODI at Old Trafford stadium on 22 July 2022 and the last ODI will be held at Headingley Stadium on 24 July 2022.
Eoin Morgan will play the role of captain in the ODI series and South Africa will go to England under the leadership of Temba Bavuma under the guidance of head coach Mark Boucher, Boucher is a former SA wicketkeeper. Currently, England is at the number 2 position whereas South Africa is at the number 5 position in the ICC Men’s ODI team ranking.
England played their first ODI match against Australia in 1971, and since 1971, they have played 761 ODI matches in which they won 384 matches, lost 339, 9 ties and 29 matches ended without any results. On the other hand, South Africa has contested 635 ODI matches in which they got the victory in 388 matches, lost 221 matches, 6 ties, and 20 ended up without outcomes.
England and South Africa have faced each other in One Day International on 63 occasions where England won 28 matches and Africa got the victory in 30 matches with 1 tied and 4 ended without any result, so there is no big difference and both perform almost equally in ODI. Both the teams faced each other for the first time in an ODI match in 1992 and It was South Africa’s debut in One Day International in the cricketing world. So, it is going to be a thrilling series for the cricket lovers as both the teams are looking very balanced but playing against England at their home ground is not going to be easy for the Africans.
