Taylor and Bravo takes the Red Steels to a comfortable win against Tridents - The second match of the Caribbean Premiere League 2014 saw the Barbados Tridents and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel come face to face against each other. The match was played in the St George Stadium located in Grenada. After winning the toss the Red Steel decided to field first. The Tridents got off to a good start. In the first 6 overs the team scored 40 runs but the last over of the 6th over saw the fall of Dwayne Smith. Later Shane Dowrich and Shoaib Malik controlled the innings and took the team to a score of 74. The second wicket of the innings fell on 74 when Shoaib Malik departed after scoring 21 runs. The middle order of the team collapsed as the team reached to a score of 99/6 in 18th over of the innings. The Tridents in the first innings manage to score only 124 runs. Swayne Bravo was the star with the bowler taking 2 wickets in his 3 overs.

Chasing a small total is sometimes a tricky situation in a T20 match. The Red Steel’s had a terrible start in to their innings as they lost 2 wickets in just 4 overs. It was Ross Taylor and Darren Bravo who managed to build up the innings for the team. Taylor score 62 runs in 51 balls and Bravo scored 54 runs in 42 balls. At the end it was because of these two batsmen who took their team cross the line easily. The team scored the required run in just 17.3 overs and won the match with 15 balls remaining. Jason Holder was the best bowler in the team as he managed to give only 17 runs in his 4 overs. Ross Taylor was rightly awarded the player of the match award. With this win the team managed to earn 2 points in the tournament.
