Royal Challengers Bangalore got their much needed victory against Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs. Kevin Pietersen (C) called correctly in the toss and elected to field first. Chris Gayle and Parthiv Patel (W) opened the batting for RCB and they started the innings quite steadily as they scored 22 runs of 23 balls and 29 runs of 28 balls respectively. Virat Kohli (C) once again failed to produce the performance of his class because of irresponsible running as he got run out by Rahul Shukla. But after that the man back in form AB de Villiers (33 runs of 17 balls) scored some quick runs to bring up the run rate of RCB in the meantime. The most fascinating part of the game happened when Yuvraj Singh came the ground and smashed some huge sixes to put up a formidable total of 186 runs on their board at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The king of sixes Yuvraj scored 68 runs in just 29 balls including 9 huge sixes.
Except, JP Duminy all the bowlers were expensive against RCB. Anyway, Mohammed Shami, Siddarth Kaul and Rahul Shukla claimed 1 wicket each.
Delhi didn’t start their innings as well as it should be while chasing a big target of 186 runs. They lost 2 early wickets of Murali Vijay and Quinton de Kock (W). After that Mayank Agarwal (31 of 25 balls) and Kevin Pietersen (C) (33 runs of 29 balls) made a decent partnership but they failed to keep the momentum up right till the end. Anyway, JP Duminy and Kedar Jadhav once again have done a bang-up job for DD but that was not enough to get along with the huge required run rate. However JP Duminy played a decent innings of 48 runs in just 30 balls and Kedar scored 37 runs in just 20 balls with the strike rate of 185.00. Daredevils only managed to put 170 runs on their scoreboard.
Muttiah Muralidaran and Mitchell Starc gave a match winning bowling performance while other bowlers were so much expensive; they claimed 4 wickets equally with the economy rate of 6.25 and 6.50 respectively.
Obviously the Man of the Match award was given to Yuvraj Singh for his brutal batting display.
