Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers of Bangalore defeated Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets while these two giants clashed tonight at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium.

Delhi Daredevils started very badly as they lost their first 4 wickets for 35 odd runs as their top order batsmen failed to deliver. Captain Dinesh Karthik (0), Manoj Tiwari (1) and the opener Mayank Aggarwal (6) had a horrible day but South African J P Duminy played a great innings of unbeaten 67 runs from 48 balls and built a much-needed partnership of 110 runs along with Ross Taylor (43 not out).

These two overseas players framed the DD innings beautifully, and finally their team managed to get decent score of 145 for four in their limited 20 overs. The majority of the RCB bowlers kept their cool and Varun Aaron, Albie Morkel, Mitchel Starc and Yuzvendra Chahal shared 1 wicket each. Only Ashok Dinda was the weakest link for the RCB bowling attack as he conceded 51 runs in his 4 overs.

While chasing 146 with a strong batting line up RCB lost their very first wicket quite early due to Mohammed Sami of Delhi Daredevils. Nick Maddinson managed to score only 4 runs but the flamboyant skipper Virat Kohli (49 runs) made a good partnership with Parthiv Patel (37 runs) to heal that early blow. After Patel’s dismissal the new catch of RCB Yuvraj Singh came into the field and played beautifully. He smashed 5 long sixes which helped him to claim the Maximum Sixes award. Yuvraj scored 52 runs in just 29 balls to give a strong reply to his critics who had pointed fingers at him after his flop performances in the T20 final for Indian Cricket Team.

The combination of Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh helped RCB to win the match in just 16.4 overs. This duo played an authentic innings but Delhi boys missed a few easy chances of Virat Kohli early in the match, which later turned out to be very costly. Finally RCB overshadowed Delhi Daredevils with a strong eight wicket win with 3.2 overs to left.

Yuzvendra Chahal of RCB was chosen as the Man of the Match for his bowling performance. He conceded only 18 runs in his limited 4 overs and also took the important wicket of Murli Vijay (18 runs). It was really a great match and RCB started their IPL 7 campaign in great style indeed.
