The ODI series was a hit for the Bangladesh side as they continued to perform as a spirited side right after the world cup. In the ODI series the Pakistan team faces a 3-0 beating and hence in the one off T20 matches the team was looking to make a comeback. On the other hand the Bangladesh side was looking to continue their dominance over Pakistan in all aspects of the game. This match was being played in the Shere Bangla National Stadium where the team emerged victorious in all the 3 matches. After winning the toss the Pakistan side decided to bat first in this match.
The Pakistan side got off to a slow but a steady start as the openers Mukhtar Ahmed and Ahmed Shehzad took the team total to 30 runs in 9 overs of the match. This opening pair gave a slow start to the team but it was a platform for the team to flourish from here. They had the wickets remaining and could have achieved a good total. Shehzad after scoring 17 runs off 31 balls lost his wicket. Shahid Afridi is known for his hard hitting but in this match too he failed to produce an innings he is known for as he scored only 12 runs. Ahmed the openers too scored 37 runs before losing his wicket as Pakistan was in trouble in 77/3 in 13th over. Haris Sohail and Mohammad Hafeez changed the game for Pakistan as they scored 30 and 26 runs respectively increasing the pace of scoring. With their efforts the team was able to post a total of 141 runs in 20 overs. Mustafizur Rahman was the best bowler who took 2 wickets in the game.
The Bangladesh side looked confident in the game and all they needed was to bat through to achieve the target of 142. The opening pair of Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar failed in this match as they lost their wicket up early scoring only 14 and 0 respectively. Mushfiqur Rahim the start of the ODI series lost his wicket after scoring only 19 runs. The home side needed new batting stars to win this one for them and in came Shakib Al Hassan and Sabbir Rahman who scored 57 and 51 runs respectively to take their team home to a victory with 7 wickets in the 17th over. That was an easy task for the team. Sabbir Rahman was named as the man of the match for his outstanding batting and Bangladesh completed their T20 win against Pakistan.
