The World Cup ended and the first International series to be played was between Bangladesh and Pakistan. It was an official tour of Pakistan to Bangladesh where they were supposed to play3 match ODI series. the home side displayed a great form of cricket in the world cup as they managed to make it to the knock out stages of the tournament. this was their chance to impress the home fans with some great bit of cricket. On the other hand the Pakistan side was undergoing a transition. The Pakistan was playing this series under a new captain and it was an interesting thing to witness as how the new captain will react when in pressure situation. The home conditions and the recent form made the home side the favorites at the start of the series.
The 1st match was being played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. In this match the home side won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first the home team lost the world cup star Soumya Sarkar early in the game but they never lost the momentum as Tamim Iqbal played the best knock of his carrier. He score 132 runs for the team while he was well helpe by Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 106 runs as the team was able to post 329 runs in 50 overs. It was the partnership of these two players which helped them in posting such a big total. Wahab Riaz took 4 wickets in this game. the Pakistan team got off to a good start of 53 runs but then lost wickets in the middle of the innings. Later Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail scored 72 and 51 runs respectively followed by Mohammad Rizwan who scored 67 runs. the lower middle order collapsed resulting in the Pakistan team being restricted to a score of 250 after a good start. Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny took 2 wickets each.
The 2nd ODI was being played at the same venue where Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a must win match for the visitors as the home side was already up with 1 match in a series of 3. The top order of Pakistan in this match collapsed as only Haris Sohail and Azhar Ali scored 44 and 36 runs respectively. It seemed that the team will be restricted at a score of less than 200 but Wahab Riaz and Saad Nasim took the team to a total of 239. They scored 77 and 51 runs respectively. The Bangladeshi bowlers did their job and it was now turn for their batsmen. Tamim Iqbal was in top form and he once again scored 116 runs and was unbeaten throughout the innings while he was again helped by Mushfiqur Rahim as he scored 65 runs to take Bangladesh home. With this win the team already made history by registering 1st ever series win against Pakistan.
The 3rd and the final ODI was played in the same venue and Pakistan won the toss and once again decided to bat first. In this match the openers did their job well as Sami Aslam and Azhar Ali scored 45 and 101 runs respectively. Haris Sohail the lone batsman in form also scored 52 runs but once again the lower order collapsed as Pakistan was reduced from 203/3 to 250 all out. Bangladesh had a great chance of a whitewash as the openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave the team a start of 145 runs in 25 overs. It was a start that eased the pressure. Iqbal scored 64 runs before losing his wicket while later Mushfiqur Rahim scored 49 runs along with Sarkar who was unbeaten at 127 runs. With this Bangladesh won the series 3-0.
This was the first whitewash for Bangladesh against a major test playing nation. Tamim Iqbal was named as the man of the series for his awesome display with the bat in all the matches of the series.
