Head To Head
The Twenty 20 form of cricket is one of the most thrilling formats of the game. It is loved worldwide as it is short and exciting. The T20 international matches are a must in the current cricketing tours and Australia too started off their tour of Pakistan which is schedule to be played in the United Arab Emirates with a T20 match. This was the
only T20 match
to be played between these two teams in the tour. It was the Haier cup that the two teams were playing for as the trophy was named after the official sponsor of the series. The match was telecasted in the sub-continent on Ten sports TV network.
The match started off with Pakistan winning the toss and deciding to bat first. It was a tricky decision as Pakistan was not a good batting side and it was proved by the Australian bowlers as they ran through the batting line up pretty easily. In the 1st 10 overs of the game the home side was thrown in the back seat while the Australians occupied the front seats. The visitors were successful in taking 6 wickets in the 1st 10 overs of the game and this was the second time this happened at this venue and Australians were the opponents for both the matches. The Pakistan side finished the 1st innings scoring only 96 runs.
This was an easy task on paper for the Australians but the Pakistan bowling unit made sure that no run came in easy for the side. They took wickets regularly and the Australians were finding it difficult to score runs easily. David Warner and Glenn Maxwell were the only batsmen who scored 54 and 17 runs respectively which guided the team home in 14 overs. These two batsmen were the lone players to score runs at a strike rate of more than 100 in the match.
At the end Australians chased down the runs in a tough chase which ones looked an easy task. The Pakistan bowlers tried hard to compensate over their batting performance but failed as the runs were not enough to defend. With this win the Australians started off their tour with a win and gained confidence for the rest of the tour.
