Pakistan vs Australia Test Series 2014 Schedule

Australia’s tour of Pakistan in UAE was a good one so far as they had registered wins in the T20 and the ODI series that was played in the tour. They had dominated the tour well and the last stage of the tour included two test matches Haier Cup. This was a series which included two test matches to be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The 1st test match saw Pakistan winning the toss and batting first. The Pakistan didn’t get off to a good start in the 1st innings but the middle order controlled the game well for the team and brought them in a commanding position. Azhar Ali scored 53 runs while Younis Khan scored 106 runs and acted as an anchor for the team. Sarfraz Ahmed too scored a century and played a vital role in taking the 1st innings total to 454 runs. Mitchell Johnson took 3 wickets in the innings. The Australians started off their 1st innings well and the openers gave them a start of 128 runs for the 1st wicket. Chris Rogers scored 38 runs and was the 1st to lose his wicket. David Warner scored 133 runs in the innings and lost his wicket. Despite of the good start the middle order collapsed and hence the Australians ended their 1st innings at a score of 303. Yasir Shah took 3 wickets in the innings.

The 2nd innings saw Pakistan extend their lead as Ahmed Shehzad and Younis khan scored 131 and 103 runs respectively to take the 2nd innings score to 286. With this the Pakistan side set up a target of 438 runs. It was a huge target for the ineffective Australian batting line up. Chris Rogers scored 43 runs while David warner scored 29 runs. Azhar Ali continued his form as he scored 109 runs. Younis Khan the veteran scored 213 runs while Misbah scored 101 runs for the team taking the total to a huge 570 runs. Australian batsmen once again failed to perform with the bat as the wickets fell at a regular interval. Glenn Maxwell scored 37 runs while Michael Clarke scored 47 runs. The biggest contributor in the innings was Mitchell Marsh who scored 87 runs as the team lost all their wickets at a score of 261. Imran Khan took 3 wickets for the team.

In the 2nd innings the Pakistan side increased their lead as Azhar Ali scored 100 runs while Misbah scored 101 runs to take the team total to 293 in the innings and set up a target of 603 runs for the Australians. Winning the match was out of contention for the visitors and all they were looking for was a draw. Once again it was only David Warner in the top order that scored some runs while others failed. He scored 58 runs before losing the wicket. Steven Smith and Mitchell Marsh too contributed with the bat while rest of the team didn’t help the cause and hence the team was bowled out at a score of 246 runs.
