Rajasthan Royals is currently owned by Lachlan Murdoch from Emerging Media, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. Rajasthan Royals is the winner of first season of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2008. At present, Rahul Dravid is the Captain of Rajasthan Royals.

First Season of IPL was won by Rajasthan Royals under the captaincy of Shane Warne. Next one was won by Deccan Chargers under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. This may be one of the reason why Mumbai Indians have gambled the captaincy with Ponting as he is an Australian too like Warne and Gilchrist. :) IPL is super entertaining and 2 months complete time pass.

If such was the case, why wasn't he bid for by other Franchise in IPL. Why did Mumbai Indians bid million for Maxwell when he won't get enough matches to prove his worth?

@jeevan vas: talent doesn't work out when you don't get an opportunity to show it.

If Maxwell doesn't get a chance to play, how will he show his talent.

Mumbai Indians cannot drop Pollard, Malinga because they are the key players.

Ponting cannot be dropped because he is the current captain of Mumbai Indians.

There is only one slot left for Overseas player in Mumbai Indians Squad and they have Dwayne Smith as well who bats, bowls and fields well.

Dwayne Smith has been most successful pair with Sachin for Mumbai Indians as Opener pair in IPL 5 season.

Maxwell has to utilize each opportunity that will be thrown at him or else he stands no chance in front of big names.

Yes your are right Diwan. One cannot forget the fact that Australian players are good in their performance. I still remember one players named as the Shaun marsh. He was a lethal batsman. No doubt Australian players are good then players of other countries and may be this is the reason, why they have so strong grip over IPL.

@skyshot: More than australians, SriLankans have greater hold on IPL after India ofcourse.

England could have been a part as well but ECB doesn't aloow and keep interrupting. West Indians are not far behind.

It is solely on franchise whether they want to keep players from which country.

Look closely and you will find very less New Zealand players in IPL even though they are very good team in T20 format.
