In bowling, they have got Shoaib Akhtar, the fastest bowler in international cricket, who has crossed 160 km per hour. The Pakistani team had Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq as the two best all-rounders of that time. On the other hand, Andrew Strauss was leading the English team and they have got Marcus Trescothick, one of the best openers for England, and plenty of depth in their batting lineup.

England captain Andrew Strauss decided to go for batting first after winning the toss. Marcus Trescothick and Ian Bell came on the pitch to open and Shoaib Akhtar got the new ball in hand to open the attack. After losing the 3 wickets at the score of 40 runs only, Marcus Trescothick avoided the complete destruction and managed the situation.

After the collision of Paul Collingwood, England was under pressure as they lost 4 wickets at 50 runs in 8.1 overs. Trescothick was still there but he was also struggling in finding the boundaries. Marcus Trescothick completed his 50 runs off 33 balls by hitting nine 4s. After the fall of Trescothick, Jamie Dalrymple and Michael Yardy played well and brought the total to 144 runs. Michael Yardy showed superb talent and smashed 24 runs quickly from just 14 balls and was the only one who struck a single six in the entire innings of England.

Pakistan got the target of 145 runs to win their 1st T20 international match. Abdul Razzaq was fabulous and took 3 important wickets including dangerous Trescothick. Mohammad Asif got 2 wickets, Shoaib Akhtar and Naved-ul-Hasan took one wicket each.

Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez were sent on the pitch to chase the target and Darren Gough got the responsibility of the new ball. Shoaib Malik expressed his aggressive attitude by hitting four at the third ball of Gough. Broad on the other side started well and gave only 2 runs. He did not stop here and got Shoaib Malik LBW in his second over.

That was the first international wicket in T20I for Stuart Broad on his debut. He bowled a bouncer to the next batsman, Younis Khan for a duck that was caught by Chris Read. Shahid Afridi came to join Mohammad Hafeez and handled the hat trick ball of Stuart broad and struck it over the midfield for a couple of runs. He smashed match-winning 28 runs from just 10 balls that released the pressure built up by England bowlers. Pakistan had come back and gripped the game completely. Finally, they got the target in just 17.5 overs and won the match by 5 wickets with 13 balls remaining.

The Man of the Match award was given to Shahid Afridi for his mind-blasting 28 runs.

Result: Pakistan won by 5 wickets. Scorecard
