Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to have another season in 2021. The auction took place on February 18, Thursday and six city-based franchises bid amount for their desired players in the team.
Chris Morris, the South African all-rounder (Age 33) was the most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction. RCB released Chris Morris to auction and the all-rounder was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 16.25 crore INR. Chris Morris is someone who can bowl with 140 plus speed and can hit huge shots with the bat. The IPL 2020 was not a big hit for Chris Morris but still, the franchises were behind him in the auction. He was the highest paid player in ipl auction history. Both Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals were bidding for Chris Morris but in last, Rajasthan Royals won the mini-battle. Chris Morris took only 11 wickets in 9 IPL matches of 2020 for RCB. He also failed to contribute with the bat for the team but still, the Rajasthan franchise showed a big trust in Morris. RR fans and franchise will have high expectations from Chris Morris for IPL 2021.
The second most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction was Kyle Jamieson (Age 26). The Kiwi all-rounder was all set to play his maiden IPL season. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 15 crore INR. Kyle Jamieson has amazing Test stats for New Zealand. It will be interesting to see how the Kiwi player will handle the pressure of the most expensive cricket league. It will be great for Kyle Jamieson to play under the leadership of Virat Kohli and to play under big players like AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell. He will give stability to the bowling attack of the RCB team and can also contribute with bat in the lower order.
The third highest paid player of the auction was Glenn Maxwell (Age 32). This Aussie all-rounder had disappointed everyone in IPL 2020 and made only 108 runs in 13 matches. He was released by Punjab Kings in the auction and was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 14.25 crore INR. He is excited to play with Virat and AB de Villiers. The ground of Bangalore will also suit the batting style of Glenn Maxwell and this can be his moment in IPL 2021. He will try to prove his worth to the RCB team and everyone.
The fourth most expensive player of the Auction was Jhye Richardson (Age 24). He is a young Australian fast bowler. IPL 2021 will be a debut edition for him and he will look forward to impressing everyone with his pace. He is bought by Punjab Kings for 14 crore INR. He is the most expensive bowler of IPL 2021. The ground of Mohali is big and with his pace, his bouncers can be a big threat for batsmen of opposite teams. Jhye Richardson was also the leading wicket-taker in BBL 2020-21.
The fifth most expensive buy of the IPL 2021 was Indian uncapped player Krishnappa Gowtham (Age 32). He is an all-rounder who can bowl off-spin and bat in the lower order. Krishnappa Gowtham has experience of IPL and he was sold to Chennai Super Kings for 9.25 crore INR. The Chennai team needs an off-spin bowler and Krishnappa Gowtham was a good buy by CSK. He can be an asset on the Chennai pitch.
The sixth most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction was Riley Meredith (Age 24). He is an uncapped Australian fast bowler. He has natural speed and also an ability to touch the 150kmph mark with his bowling. He was sold to Punjab Kings for 8 Crore INR. He is a very good buy by Punjab on the fast surface of Mohali. Punjab Kings bowling looks sorted with his addition.
The seventh most expensive buy of IPL 2021 auction was Moeen Ali (Age 33). The English all-rounder has the ability to hit the ball hard out of the park and can turn the ball on turning tracks. Chennai Super Kings bought Moeen Ali for 7 crore INR. The player will be happy to play under MS Dhoni in the season of IPL 2021.
The eighth most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction was uncapped Indian lower-order batsman Shahrukh Khan. He was bought by Punjab Kings for 5.25 crore INR. He is a natural finisher and he has the ability to smash the ball out of the park. He has performed extremely well in domestic cricket and will look forward to showing his talent in the Punjab team in the upcoming IPL edition.
The ninth most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction was Tom Curran (Age 25). He was released by Rajasthan Royals in the auction and is bought by Delhi Capitals for 5.25 crore INR. He is an English cricketer and is considered as a white-ball specialist. IPL 2020 was not so good for Tom Curran and he will look forward to playing with the new franchise in IPL 2021.
The tenth most expensive player of the IPL 2021 auction was Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube (Age 27). He was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the auction and was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 4.40 crore in INR. He is a left-handed lower-order batsman. He can also bowl 2-3 over for the team.
