The Otago tops the qualifying group with a win against Sunrisers - The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Otago met in the last qualifying match of the Champions League T20. Both the teams were successful in qualifying for the next round and this match was to decide that which team will join others in Group A and Group B. this match was played in the PCA stadium of Mohali. The Otago in this match won the toss and decided to field first putting Sunrisers into bat. The opening pair of Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan failed this time around. Both the batsmen were back in the pavilion by the 5th over of the innings. Later Biplab Samantray too lost his wicket in the 8th over of the game leaving his team to a score of 45/3. Jean-Paul Duminy and Cameron White came in to save the team. White scored 25 runs and lost his wicket in the 14th over of the game. Darren Sammy and Duminy together batted brilliantly to make sure that there team scored a good amount of runs for their bowler to defend. Duminy scored 57 runs while Sammy scored 26 runs taking his team to a score of 143 runs. Nathan McCullum was the best bowler who took 2 wickets giving away 23 runs.

In the 2nd innings Neil Broom and Hamish Rutherford gave their team a good start taking his team to a score of 27/1 in 3 overs. Broom was the 1t one to go as he left after scoring 16 runs. Brendon McCullum came in strong together to score 67 runs in the innings. He was helped on course by Rutherford as he scored 27 runs and Jimmy Neesham scored 21 runs. Together these batsmen managed to take their team cross the required target. The Otago won the match easily with 22 balls still reaming in the match. Dale Steyn was the top bowler as he took 2 wickets in the match. Nathan McCullum was named as the man of the match for his good bowling performance. With this win the Otago managed to top the group and Sunrisers were the 2nd best team in the qualifying round.
