The 24th match of the CPL 2020 was played between St Lucia Zouks and Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 2, Wednesday at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad in evening. Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Chris Green won the toss and chose to bowl first.
R Cornwall and A Fletcher opened the inning for the Zouks. R Cornwall made 21 on 13 but Fletcher got out early on 1 run. N Zadran also got out early on 19 runs while Mohammad Nabi could only contribute 13 runs. Captain Sammy got out on 1 run and yet another low score streak continued for Sammy. J Glenn made not out 23 runs and finished the St Lucia inning on 109 runs in their 20 over. Naveen Ul Haq and Keemo Paul both took 2 wickets each for Guyana Warriors and Imran Tahir also bowled brilliantly and gave only 10 runs in his 4 over and took 1 wicket.
It was a very small target of 110 runs for Guyana Amazon Warriors to win the match. B King and C Hemraj opened the inning for Guyana Amazon Warriors. B King got out on just 5 runs but C Hemraj scored 26 runs. Shimron Hetmyer scored not out 56 runs in 36 balls and won the game for Guyana Amazon Warriors. He played match winning inning and Guyana Amazon Warriors chased down the target in 13.5 over. Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated St Lucia Zouks by 7 wickets. Mohammad Nabi, J Glenn and S Kuggeleijn took 1 wicket each for St Lucia Zouks.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Chris Green looked relaxed and happy with his team’s performance in the match and the team also got winning point to reach the semi finals of the tournament. Shimron Hetmyer was selected as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
