The 19th match of the CPL 2020 was played between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks on August 30, Sunday at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Barbados Tridents captain Jason Holder won the toss and chose to bowl first.
The Zouks openers R Cornwall and Andre Fletcher failed to have a good start for team and both made 6 runs each. L Boucer was playing good but got out on 18 to Hayden Walsh. Roston Chase also got out on 14 to Hayden Walsh. It was a beautiful bowling performance by Barbados Tridents. N Zadran scored most 22 runs for St Lucia Zouks. The team got all out in 18 over on 92 runs. It was a small target of 93 runs for Barbados Tridents to win the match. Hayden Walsh took 3 wickets for Barbados Tridents by giving only 19 runs in his 4 over. Raymon Reifer also took 2 wickets.
Johnson Charles and Shai Hope opened the inning for Barbados Tridents. They made a good partnership of 32 runs for the 1st wicket. Shai Hope scored 14 runs and Johnson Charles scored 39 runs in 42 balls. The Zouks bowlers gave good response to the Barbados team and bowled very accurately with right length. No other batsmen after the openers were able to hit the ball. Captain Holder got out very early in the inning on just 1 run to Kesrick Williams. Ashley Nurse made 12 and Corey Anderson made 11 but they left 4 runs short to target. Barbados made 89/7 in their 20 over.
It was an unbelievable performance by the St Lucia Zouks bowlers. Kesrick Williams and Javelle Glen both took 2 wickets and helped the Zouks to win the match by 3 runs. It was the lowest total defended in history of CPL. Javelle Glenn was selected as player of the match.
