The 41st T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was fought between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval, Canberra on 16 Jan 2021. Perth Scorchers won the toss and made a decision to bat first. Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone were sent to open for Scorchers. Jackson Bird got the new ball in hand to open the attack.
Perth started well and had made 53 runs at the end of the first mandatory Powerplay. Both the openers played superbly and added 76 runs for the first wicket partnership. Livingstone completed his fifty from just 26 balls. Sidney needed a wicket and they got the first wicket of Jason Roy in the 8th over at the score of 76 runs. Roy was sent back by Christian. After the dismissal, Munro came to join Livingstone. Scorchers completed the 100 runs in the 9.2 overs and then Livingstone was dismissed in the next over. Livingstone gave a good start and made 67 runs from just 38 balls. After the dismissal of Livingstone, Perth came under pressure and no batsmen could stay longer on the crease and finally made 163 runs at the end of the 20th over.
Sydney needed 164 runs from 120 balls to win the match. Josh Philippe and Justin Avendano were on the crease to chase the target. Jhye Richardson got the new ball to attack. Sydney Sixers lost their first wicket at the score of 40 runs in the 6th over. Justin Avendano was sent back by Behrendorff. Then James Vince came to join Philippe and both played a match-winning inning for their team. Philippe and Vince made a partnership of 106 runs and the Sixers achieved the target very comfortably in the 18.5 overs. Josh Philippe scored 84 runs off 52 balls and Vince made 52 runs from 35 balls. Sydney Sixers won the 41st match of the BBL 2020-21 by 7 wickets.
