The 17th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was played between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on 28 Dec 2020. Perth Scorchers won the toss and invited Strikers to bat first. Ryan Gibson and Harry Conway were the X-factor subs for ADS. Cameron Bancroft, Joel Paris for the PRS.
Philip Salt and Weatherald were on the crease to open for Strikers. Behrendorff got the new ball. It was an average start for Strikers and made 33 runs at no loss at the end of the first mandatory powerplay. Then Mitchell Marsh dismissed Weatherald in the 8th over of the match. After the dismissal of Weatherald, Alex Carey came to join Salt. Salt played well and completed its 50 runs in the 10th over. The score was 79 runs at the loss of one wicket at the end of the 10th over. Rashid Khan who came at number 7 played some powerful shots and made 29 runs from just 13 balls. Adelaide Strikers gave a challenging target of 166 runs to Scorchers.
Jhye Richardson bowled well for Scorchers and took 3 wickets. Salt was the top scorer for ADS and made 51 runs from 31 balls. Josh Inglis and Jason Roy came to chase the target from PRS. Daniel Worrall got the new ball to attack. Scorchers started well and made 35 runs in the first 3 overs but lost Inglis in the next over. After 4 overs, Scorchers made 36 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. After the dismissal of the first wicket, Scorchers lost 2 more wickets in the next two overs. They could not handle the pressure and all batsmen of the team were out at the score of 94 runs only.
Strikers bowled really well and stopped the opposition at just 94 runs, and thus registered a big victory by 71 runs. Rashid Khan was chosen Man of the Match for his superb all-round performance.
