San Francisco Unicorns Cricket Team

Dedicated to San Francisco, the San Francisco Unicorns T20 franchise is one of the six teams that will be participating members of the Major Premier League 2023. The MLC 2023 season will be the inaugural season of the league which will start on 13 July and conclude on 30 July 2023. The team’s title, ownership, and logo came into existence for the very first time in March 2023. All the players of this squad will be seen in the orange and light blue colored jerseys on the field.

In March 2023, America Cricket Enterprises unveiled the Unicorns' existence allowing them to participate in Major League Cricket. Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan, the co-founders of Cambrian Ventures, act as the proprietors of the San Francisco Unicorns after making an investment in the MLC 2023. Notably, Rajaraman and Harinarayan have additionally formed a partnership with Cricket Victory of Australia, paving the way for their joint venture in the upcoming season of MLC 2023.

Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Stadium (planned), which is under the setting up process will be the home ground for San Francisco unicorns and it will have the capacity of taking 15,000 audiences to take in. Till then, the team will play their matches at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.

The San Francisco Unicorns will enter the MLC 2023 under the captaincy of former Australian skipper, Aaron Finch. Former Australian cricketer, Shane Watson has been given the responsibility of head coach for the Major Premier League 2023. During the domestic round of the draft, several prominent names were selected by the Unicorns, including Corey Anderson, Liam Plunkett, Tajinder Singh, and Smit Patel. Furthermore, the team made significant overseas signings, announcing the inclusion of Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade from Australia, Shadab Khan from Pakistan, and Lungi Ngidi from South Africa. 

The San Francisco Unicorns will kick off their MLC 2023 journey with their 1st T20 against MI New York at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas on 14 July. Then they will face Seattle Orcas in the 2nd T20 on 15 July and Los Angeles Knight Riders in the 3rd T20 on 18 July in the same stadium. Then they will take the route of Church Street Park, Morrisville for contesting their 4th and 5th T20 against Washington Freedom on 22 July and Texas Super Kings on 24 July 2023.
