Delhi gets knocked out of IPL after a loss against Hyderabad - The 45th match of the Indian Premiere League was played at the city of Raipur. This was the very first match of the tournament being played here in this season. Last year the stadium hosted IPL matches for Delhi Daredevils and this year too Raipur was named as the home ground for Delhi team. The 45th match featured Delhi Daredevils and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was a must win match for the home team as a win here would confirm their presence in the fight for the top 4 else the team would have been knocked out. After winning the toss in this match Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to bat first.
Batting first the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner failed to click once again. They lost their wicket early leaving the team at a total of 31/2. Warner was able to score only 17 runs while Dhawan scored 13 runs before losing their wicket. Moises Henriques and Eoin Morgan had a job at hand of rebuilding the innings and they did well. Morgan scored 22 runs before losing his wicket in the 11th over. Karn Sharma too came to party and scored 16 runs and lost his wicket. The architect of the innings for Hyderabad was Henriques as he scored 74 runs in 46 balls and took his team to a respectable score of 163 in 20 overs.
The Delhi team had a task at hand if they wanted to survive in this tournament. Quinton de Kock and Shreyas Iyer were the openers for Delhi but Iyer lost his wicket for a duck. Jean Paul Duminy the captain lost his wicket after scoring 12 runs. Yuvraj Singh failed once again and was able to score only 2 runs. Kedar Jadhav and Kock scored runs for the team. Kock scored 50 runs in 31 balls while Jadhav scored 63 runs 34 balls. He was unbeaten till the end but was unable to win it for Delhi. The efforts went in vain as Hyderabad defeated Delhi by 6 runs.
Moises Henriques won the Yes Bank Maximum sixes award and was also named as the player of the match.
