Delhi makes it 2 wins in the row as they hold their nerves in a crunch match - The 13th match of the Indian Premiere league was played in the city of Vishakhapatnam. This match was hosted by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They were hosting the Delhi Daredevils in the match. The Daredevils were coming with a win after straight 11 losses in this tournament. Hyderabad on the other hand was coming after a loss in their previous match. In this match after winning the toss Delhi chose to bat first.
Mayank Agarwal the young star from Delhi failed to give a strong start to the team as he lost his wicket in the 3rd over of this game. He scored only 1 runs before losing his wicket to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shreyas Iyer and Jean Paul Duminy gave the team a solid partnership which took them to a score of 93 runs in 12 overs. It was here when Iyer lost his wicket after scoring a marvelous 60 runs in 40 balls. Duminy too lost his wicket in the 16th over after scoring 54 runs. He was clean bowled by Dale Steyn who was making a comeback in this match. Yuvraj Singh was able to score only 9 runs while Kedar Jadhav and Angelo Mathews were the man for the team who took them to a score of 167 runs. They scored 19 and 15 runs respectively in the end.
A total of 168 are chasable in this form of the game and hence Hyderabad just needed to put things together in the chase. David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan gave the team a 50 runs stand for the 1st wicket. Dhawan after scoring 18 runs lost his wicket to Duminy. Warner too lost his wicket in the same over after scoring 28 runs. It was an over that changed things for Delhi. Ravi Bopara and Lokesh Rahul then started building a partnership but Angelo Mathews bumped in with taking the wicket of Rahul who scored only 24 runs. The Delhi team started taking some regular wickets and hence the chase was disrupted. Bopara lost his wicket after scoring 41 runs in the 17th over. The chase went into a good position when 10 runs were required to win for Hyderabad in the last over. Nathan Coulter-Nile came into bowl the last over and was successful in defending the total. With this Delhi won their 2nd match in a row.
Shreyas Iyer won the Yes Bank Maximum sixes award while Jean Paul Duminy was named as the man of the match for an all-round performance.
