Young Hooda takes Rajasthan to a hard fought victory - The 6th match of the Indian Premier League was played in Delhi where Delhi Daredevils hosted the Rajasthan Royals. Delhi were looking to turn the tables in the 2nd match and to start off their journey to the playoffs. Royals on the other hand were looking to continue their winning run to the 2nd win in the row. After winning the toss the Royals decided to field first.
Batting first the opening pair of Mayank Agrawal and Shreyas Iyer gave the team a good start. They scored 45 runs in 4.4 balls. Mayank after scoring 37 runs lost his wicket bringing in Jean Paul Duminy to bat. He along with Iyer took the team to a total of 93 in 11 overs. It was here when Iyer lost his wicket after scoring 40 runs in 30 balls. Duminy remained on the crease while Yuvraj Singh came to party. The stylish batsman struck the ball at will and scored valuable 27 runs in 17 balls hitting 2 sixes. He got out in the 17th over and brought Angelo Mathews on crease. He too struck 27 runs in 14 balls while Duminy scored 44 runs in 38 balls to take the team to a total of 184 runs in 20 overs. Chris Morris took 2 wickets in his spell for the team.
Rajasthan needed a good start but Sanju Samson lost his wicket after scoring only 11 runs. Steven Smith too was not able to score more than 10 runs. Ajinkya Rahane was the only batsmen for Rajasthan who managed to score the required runs. Rahane scored 47 runs in his innings of 39 balls. He remained on crease for a long time but players from opposite end never supported him. In the end it was young Deepak Hooda who scored 54 runs in 24 balls to take the team on the verge of victory before losing his wicket in the 19th over. Imran Tahir took 2 wickets in the 19th over to turn the tables for Daredevils once again. At the end Delhi were not able to defend 12 runs in the last over and hence ended up on the losing side.
