Barbados Tridents ends the tournament with a win - The 20th and the last group match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 were played between the Northern Districts and the Barbados Tridents. This match was affected by the rain and faced a late start. This match held no significance in the points table rather it was a fight to finish with a win for both the teams. It was a nothing but a fight for respect. As rain interrupted the game the match was rescheduled to be played for 19 overs per side. After winning the toss they decided to field first.

Batting in the wet conditions is always tough and the Districts too faced problems as they went off to a slow start. The 1st wicket of dangerous Kane Williamson fell in the 2nd over of the match and later Anton Devcich and Daniel Flynn together took their team to a score of 64 in 10 overs. In the 1st ball of the 11th over Flynn lost his wicket and left after scoring 21 runs. Devcich was the 2nd to go as he lost his wicket in the 13th over when he was on 47 runs. His fall of wicket led to a downfall of the districts as wickets kept tumbling. At the end it was Watling who scored 29 runs and Tim Southee scored 19 runs to take their team to a total of 135 runs in 19 overs. Ravi Rampaul took 3 wickets in the innings for Tridents.

The Barbados Tridents started of strong while batting as the opening pair piled on a quick 31 runs in 4 overs. The first ball of the 5th over saw the fall of Dilshan Munaweera who scored 20 runs off 14 balls. The Districts with this wicket came back in the match by slowing down the flow of runs. In the 8th over they were successful in taking two quick wickets and thus keeping the team to 49/3. Jonathan Carter scored 30 runs in 28 balls and thus brought some respite. He lost his wicket in the 16th over and went leaving the team at a score of 105/4. The last few overs of the game brought in some excitement and some hard hitting as James Franklin and Elton Chigumbura together took their team cross the required mark. Franklin scored 33 runs in 25 balls hitting 2 sixes which led to the victory for Tridents.

This was the 1st win for the Tridents in the tournament. James Franklin won the Suzuki Gixxer Power Player award for hitting most sixes in the match. He also won the Oppo man of the match receiving USD 5000 as prize money for both the awards.
