Bangladesh cricket governing body has already planned and declared that they will go to England in order to play 3 ODI matches series against Ireland in 2023. The Ireland vs Bangladesh ODI series 2023 will be held in the month of May in England. The Ire vs Ban ODI series 2023 will be an integral component of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. This series will decide whether Ireland will qualify or not for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup. Ireland will have to win all the 3 ODI against Bangladesh in order to be a part of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Cricket Ireland was due to host Bangladesh for an ODI series, but later announced in March 2023 that all three ODIs will be held in Chelmsford, England. This was because England will have superior weather conditions than Ireland, which increased the likelihood that entire matches would be played out to a conclusion.
The ODI series between Ireland and Bangladesh 2023 will kick off with the first ODI on 9 May 2023 at County Cricket Ground, Chelmsford, England. Then the second and third match will be held on 12 and 14 MAy 2023 at the same stadium. Before commencing the official ODI series, Ireland and Bangladesh will face each other in a warm-up match on 5 May 2023.
Currently, Bangladesh is in the 7th place in the ICC Men’s ODI ranking, on the other hand, Ireland is in the 11th position. In terms of head-to-head in ODI, Ireland, and Bangladesh have faced each other on 13 occasions where Bangladesh dominated Ireland by winning 9 matches with losing 2 matches only. The remaining 2 ODI between both ended without any outcome. Additionally, Bangladesh will enter the series with a lot of confidence after recently thrashing England in a three-match T20I series. As usual, Shakib Al Hasan is anticipated to have an important part in Bangladesh.
From the Bangladesh side, Tamim Iqbal will lead the squad for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland in England. On the other hand, Ireland is yet to decide their final squad for the series but most probably Andrew Balbirnie may handle the captaincy. So, let's watch how Ireland will perform against Bangladesh in order to all the 3 ODI in the upcoming series.
