Just before the Men’s ICC T20 World Cup in October, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh will gather in New Zealand in order to contest the 7 T20i matches. The Pakistan Cricket Board has already shown a strong desire to take part in the series, and Bangladesh will visit New Zealand as well. Prior to the T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia, this series will be essential for all three teams as it will give them the final touch of their preparation. The host New Zealand has finalized all the dates and venue of the 7 T20I matches of the series. The venue for all 7 matches will be the same i.e, Hagley Oval, Christchurch which will host the complete series including the final.
The New Zealand Tri-Nation Series 2022 will be started with the first T20I on 7th October between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. The 2nd match will be fought between New Zealand and Pakistan on 8th October. New Zealand and Bangladesh will face each other in the 3rd T20I on 9th October, then the series will move ahead with the 4th T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan on 11th October. 5th T20I will be played between NZ and Ban on 12th October and the league match of the series will be held on 13th October between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Thus, all the three squads will play 4 T20I matches and the top 2 teams will meet in the final in order to claim the championship.
Kane Williamson most probably will play the role of captain for the Kiwis and Babar Azam, who was visiting NZ for the first time as a skipper, will lead the Pakistan. On the other hand, Bangladesh will take part under the leadership of Mahmudullah. Pakistan skipper is currently looking in a very good form and holding the top position in the ICC T20 player rankings, also Mohammad Rizwan is standing at the number 2 position. This shows that both the players have brought a lot of improvement and success in international cricket in all formats. Pakistan also performed brilliantly in the last T20I World Cup 2021 where they broke the record of never defeating India in the ICC World Cup.
But it would be an easy task for both the outsiders to fight with the Black Caps on their home land as New Zealand has already proved themselves by reaching the final of the T20 World Cup 2021. In terms of ICC ranking, currently New Zealand is at the number 6th position whereas Pakistan is holding the number 3rd position and Bangladesh is sitting at the number 9th position. So, it is going to be really exciting and entertaining for the cricket fans to watch the NZ Tri Series among 3 good competitors in the shortest format of the game.
