The cricket governing body of New Zealand has confirmed their visit to Scotland in the month of July 2022 in order to contest the 2 T20I matches series. Scotland is one of the associate members of the ICC and still waiting for the complete membership. The timetable and venues for all the matches of the series have been decided and disclosed by Cricket Scotland. Scotland vs New Zealand T20I series 2022 will consist of 2 T20 international matches which will be held in Edinburgh. The series will commence with the first T20I on 27th July 2022 and it will conclude on 29th July at the Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh.
The tour will not be so long but it will be important for Scotland in order to improve their performance and learn many skills from the top-class NZ players. Initially, it was decided by the cricket governing body of both nations to organize this series in June 2020 but it was delayed due to the pandemic. This will be the second time that New Zealand will travel to Scotland after 2008. The squad of both teams is still not announced so the captain of Scotland is TBA and most probably Kane Williamson will take charge of the Kiwis T20 squad. Currently, New Zealand is at the number 6th position in the ICC T20 team ranking whereas Scotland is at the 16th position.
In terms of head to head in T20I, Scotland and New Zealand have faced each other on 2 occasions in the history of T20 cricket where New Zealand achieved victory in all 2 matches. Overall, New Zealand has appeared in the 160 T20I matches where they won 78 matches and got defeated in 70 matches with 8 matches tied and 4 ending up without any outcome. On the other hand, Scotland made their T20I debut against Pakistan in 2007, since then they have played 78 matches where they defeated their opponent in 34 matches and faced defeat in 40 matches with a single match tied and 3 ended up without any result.
