The governing body of the Ireland cricket team has declared a tour to the USA for playing 3 One Day International matches bilateral series in the month of December 2021. All 3 ODI matches of the Ireland vs USA series 2021 will be held at Central Broward Park, Lauderhill. The ODI series will start with the first match on 26 December, then the second ODI 0n 28 December, and the third match will be played on 30 December 2021. This is going to be the very first when the USA will welcome the full member of the ICC for the complete series.
Presently Andrew Balbirnie is the captain of the Ireland cricket team in all formats of the game and the team will visit the USA under his leadership. According to Ireland’s announcement, Ben White will make his ODI debut for Ireland in the tour, he is a right-arm leg spinner of the Ireland team. On the other hand, Josh Little will miss the USA visit because of his inclusion in the Lanka Premier League. The USA cricket board has not announced their squad for the series yet but most probably Saurabh Netravalkar, the current captain of the ODI squad, will lead the team under the guidance of J. Arunkumar.
USA played their first ODI match against New Zealand at The Oval, London; 10 September 2004 whereas Ireland played their first ODI against England at Stormont, Belfast; 13 June 2006. As of December 2021, Ireland had played a total of 173 ODI matches in which they triumphed in 72 matches, lost 88, with 3 ties and 10 without any outcome. USA is the Associate Member of the ICC and they have played 21 ODI in which they won 9 matches, and lost 12 ODIs.
Both the teams have faced each other in 2 ODI matches where both teams acquired 1-1 wins. Currently, the Irish cricket team is at the number 12 position in ICC Men’s ODI team ranking. Let’s see how the USA will perform against Irish players in December 2021.
