The governing body for cricket in West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that the West Indies cricket team will travel to Pakistan for contesting the 3 T20 international matches series in December 2021. The venue for all the three T20I matches will be the same i.e, National Stadium, Karachi. The first match of Pakistan vs West Indies T20 series 2021 will be held on 13 December 2021 at the national stadium, Karachi. The second and the third match will be played on 14 December and 16 December at the same stadium.
In the month of August 2021, Pakistan has already visited West Indies for the 4 T20I match series and 2 Test match series. 3 out of 4 T20I matches of the series were ended without any outcomes, there was only one match completed successfully and won by Pakistan. Thus, West Indies at their homeland were defeated by Pakistan in the 4 T20 matches series by 1-0. West Indies, one of the greatest T20 teams, has let down their audience with their poor performance in the last couple of years. They have also not qualified for the knockout round in the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2021. On the other hand, Pakistan was looking fabulous under the captaincy of Babar Azam.
Most people do not know that West Indies and Pakistan never faced each other in the T20 international match before 2011. After 4 years of the T20I’s birth n they met on the ground for their first T20I competition in April 2011, West Indies defeated Pakistan but afterward, the Pakistan team ruled over West Indies. Both the teams have faced each other in the 18 T20 international matches in which Pakistan won 12 matches and West Indies got the victory in 3 matches only. 3 matches came to an end with no results. This shows that Pakistan has dominated the West Indies with a winning percentage of over 66.
In terms of ICC T20 team ranking, West Indies is at the 10th position whereas Pakistan has improved a lot in their ranking and standing at number 2 position after England. Most probably Babar Azam will lead the men in green and West Indies will come to Pakistan for 3 T20I matches series under the leadership of Kieron Pollard. Currently, the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is sitting at the top position in the ICC T20 player ranking. So, it will be interesting to watch how the West Indies will compete with Pakistan in the coming December.
