Pakistan dominated New Zealand to seal their 1st test victory in the series - New Zealand after facing South Africa in home had to tour UAE for playing against Pakistan. This tour included a 3 match test series. The Pakistan cricket team was in great form as they had recently white washed the Australians in a test series and hence they were in their best form.

The 1st test match was played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In this match after winning the toss the Pakistan team decided to bat first. The openers of the Pakistan gave them a great start as they scored 178 runs for the 1st wicket. Mohammad Hafeez scored 96 runs and was the first one to go. At the end of Day 1 the team home team managed to reach a score of 269/1. Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali were playing for the team at 126 and 46 respectively.

The 2nd day of the match
saw Pakistan tighten their grip as overnight partnership got extended and Shehzad after scoring 176 lost his wicket. It was the effect of a bouncer when he fell on his wicket thus getting out hit wicket. Azhar Ali was the last one to go in the 1st innings after scoring 87 runs. Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq scored 100 and 102 respectively to take the team to a total of 566 runs. Corey Anderson was the most successful bowler who took 2 wickets in the innings. The New Zealand batting side ended the 2nd day at 15/0.

On the 3rd day the openers from New Zealand didn’t last long as Brendon McCullum lost his wicket after scoring 18 runs. Soon the Pakistan bowlers used this opening and took 2 more wickets restricting the team to a score of 47/3. Corey Anderson and Tom Latham had a good partnership going between them as they scored 103 and 48 respectively. Later BJ Watling was the lone player in the midfield who scored 42 runs to take the 1st innings to 262. Rahat Ali took 4 wickets in the innings for Pakistan. The Pakistan team ended their day at a 2nd innings score of 15/0.

The 4th day saw the home team take a huge lead in the match which made them uncatchable in the game. Mohammad Hafeez scored 101 runs in this mission as they ended their 2nd innings just after lunch declaring the innings at 175. In the process they set up a target of 480 for the New Zealand team. The visitors had a good start as the openers provided a score of 57 runs for the 1st wicket but then Tom Latham lost his wicket after scoring 20 runs. Brendon McCullum too lost his wicket next after scoring 39 runs. Ross Taylor too didn’t last long and before tea he was back in the pavilion leaving his team at 69/3. The problems didn’t stop here for the team as they lost 5 more wickets in the day. At the end of 4th day the team were staring straight into defeat as they ended the day at a score of 174/8.

The victory for Pakistan was unstoppable and hence it came before lunch of day 5. Ish Sodhi scored 63 runs before losing his wicket which marked the end of New Zealand innings. The visitors managed to score only 231 runs thus losing the match by 248 runs. Yasir Shah took 3 wickets in the innings for Pakistan. Rahat Ali was named as the man of the match for this match.
