A blasting batting by Smith wins the match for Tridents - The Barbados Tridents and the St Lucia Zouks came together in a face off in the 10th Caribbean Premiere League match. The Zouks were playing their third match of the tournament and were looking for their 1st win. After winning the toss they decided to field first. the second over brought them success as the opener Shane Dowrich lost his wicket while facing the first ball, on the other hand though Dwayne Smith looked dangerous hitting the ball from the middle of the bat. As the first wicket fell the rain too came down thus interrupting the match. It seemed that the rain would have its effect on the match and will make the pitch difficult to bat. Soon the game restarted and Smith began from where he left. It was a Smith show today as he played an unbeaten innings of 110 runs in just 69 balls. In this innings he hit 15 boundaries in total which included seven 4’s and eight 6’s. He was well accompanied by Shoaib Malik who scored 49 runs of 37 balls. With this batting display the team managed to reach a score of 186 runs.

It was a huge uphill task for the team who was struggling for form. It showed as the opener Johnson Charles after scoring 12 runs off 8 balls was run out. Later Henry Davids and Andre Fletcher tried to steady the ship but failed as the required run rate kept rising. They scored 22 and 27 respectively but they took a great amount of balls for reaching the score. Later Keddy Lesporis and Sohail Tanvir tried to play a blinder of an innings. Lesporis scored 50 in just 38 balls and Tanvir scored 38 off just 18 balls. The efforts from the batsmen came late as the team was able to score only 157 runs, thus losing the match by 30 runs. Jeevan Mendis was the best bowler for the team taking 1 wicket by giving away only 16 runs in his 4 overs. With this win now the Tridents have win 2 matches out of 3 while Zouks still are left without a win. Dwayne Smith was named as the player of the match.
