Indians overpower West Indies with an all-round performance - The defending champions in the 28th match of the tournament came across the dark horses West Indies. It was a great test for India so as to maintain the winning streak against and unpredictable team. Indians till date won 3 matches in this World Cup while the opposition were looking to win matches in order to solidify their position for the Quarter finals. After winning the toss in this match the team West Indies team decided to bat first.

The West Indians while batting first didn’t get a good start. Indian bowlers who are in their prime form struck once again supported by some great fielding. Dwayne Smith was the first one to lose his wicket in this match. Marlon Samuels too was unable to score much as he lost his wicket up early due to a misunderstanding between the wickets which resulted in a run-out. Chris Gayle and Denesh Ramdin too fell early in the 9th over leaving their team at 35/4. Gayle scored 21 runs only while Ramdin went for a golden duck. The Indians never stopped taking wicket and kept striking again and again. It was Jason Holder who scored some important runs for his team. He scored 57 runs and took the team at 182 runs before losing their entire wicket. Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets for his team.

The Indians opening players were always in limelight in the matches played previously but in this match the Indians lost their players up early exposing the middle order. Rohit Sharma scored 7 runs while Shikhar Dhawan scored 9 runs before losing his wicket. Ajinkya Rahane too didn’t trouble the scorers much losing his wicket after scoring 14 uns. Indians was in trouble at a score of 107/5. Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina lost his wicket after scoring 33 and 22 runs respectively. The middle order for the 1st time was exposed in an important match. Mahendra Singh Dhoni cored unbeaten 45 runs to take the team back home with 10 overs remaining. It was a low scoring match won easily by India at the end.
