Lanka Premier League is a cricket tournament among the T20 franchise or clubs and is organized by the Sri Lanka cricket authority. In 2022, the Sri Lanka cricket board will conduct the 3rd season of LPL which will start on December 6 and conclude on the 23rd of December 2022. Colombo Stars
Colombo Stars is one of the 5 competitors which will take part in the LPL 2022 under the captaincy of Angelo Mathews. The team represents Colombo city, the capital of Sri Lanka, in LPL and is currently owned by Ruwan Kalpage. Previously, the team was named Colombo Kings when Murfad Mustafa was the owner of the team but after the replacement of the owner, the name has been changed to Colombo Stars. The franchise has changed a number of coaches starting from Dav Whatmore, then Kabir Ali, Herschelle Gibbs, and finally Ruwan Kalpage. Ashok Pathirage (Softlogic Holdings) is the current owner of Colombo Stars. Asif Ali, Dwaine Pretorius, Karim Janat, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Dominic Drakes are the overseas players for the Stars. Dinesh Chandimal is in the top position for making the most runs for Colombo Stars in LPL. He has appeared in 18 LPL matches and has struck 523 runs with an average of 43.58. On the other hand, Dushmantha Chameera is the leading wicket-taker for Colombo Stars with 17 wickets from 21 LPL matches. Under the captaincy of Angelo Matthews, the team has played 14 LPL matches out of which they won 8 matches and lost 5 matches in LPL.

Dambulla Aura
Dambulla Aura is another T20 franchise that will participate in the upcoming 3rd season of LPL 2022 under the captaincy of Dasun Shanaka. Currently, the franchise represents Dambulla town and is owned by Qamar Khan MBE. D'Arcy Short, Haider Ali, Sacha De Alwis, Ben Cutting, Tim Seifert, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Sheldon Cottrell are the overseas players of the Dambulla Aura. Stuart Law has the responsibility of head coach along with Sampath Perera as an assistant coach as well as Kaushalya Gajasinghe as fielding coach. Niroshan Dickwella is the highest run-maker with 421 runs whereas Imran Tahir is the leading wicket-taker for the Aura in LPL.

Galle Gladiators
Galle Gladiators, under the captaincy of Kusal Mendis, is the next team that will take part in LPL 2022. The Franchise is owned by Nadeem Omar (Omar Associates) along with Azam Khan as a manager. Wasim Akram will play the role of mentor and Umar Gul is the head coach for the Galle Gladiators. In the last two seasons of the LPL, the Gladiators made it to the finals but could not lift the title of LPL and became runners-up. The team has included Janneman Malan, Sherfane Rutherford, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Azam Khan as the overseas players. Initially, the team contested under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi but could not perform well, and then the team fought under the captaincy of Bhanuka Rajapaksha till 2021.

Jaffna Kings will enter the LPL tournament under the leadership of Thisara Perera along with Thilina Kandamby as a head coach. The Jaffna Kings are owned by Subaskaran Allirajah who is a British Sri Lankan Tamil entrepreneur of Lyca Group. Jaffna Kings is the most successful franchise in the Lanka Premier League who lifted the title two times in 2020, and 2021. Evin Lewis, Shoaib Malik, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Tristan Stubbs, Hardus Viljoen, and Shahnawaz Dahani will be seen as overseas players. Jehan Mubarak will have the responsibility of batting coach along with Mario Villavarayana as an assistant and fielding coach.

Kandy Falcons
Kandy Tuskers and Kandy Warriors are the former names of this franchise which were changed to Kandy Falcons in 2022. The team is going to take part in the LPL 2022 under the captaincy of Wanindu Hasaranga and the name of the coach is yet to be announced. Parvez Khan is the owner of the team along with Shyam Impett as a manager and director. Sanath Jayasuriya, a former Sri Lanka player, has been appointed as a consultant coach. Dewald Brevis, Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Chris Green, Andre Fletcher, and Ahmed Daniyal come under the overseas category. Kusal Mendis is the leading scorer who has struck 263 runs and Nimesh Vimukthi is the leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets for the Kandy Falcons in the Lanka Premier League.
