The middle order collapse costs the Tridents their first loss - The Barbados Tridents hosted Guyana Amazon Warriors in a game of Caribbean Premiere League. In the match the Warriors won the toss and decided to bat first. The very first ball of the match saw the wicket of inform batsman Lendl Simmons flying in the air. It was one of the worst starts for a team batting first. But Martin Guptill and Mohammad Hafeez managed to give the team a solid start as both had a partnership of 98 runs. Hafeez in the 14th over of the match lost his wicket. James Franklin and Guptill managed to build another partnership of 38 runs. Franklin got out in the 18th over after scoring 16 runs. The same over saw the wicket of Guptill who departed after scoring 73 runs in 55 balls. The team then in search of some quick runs collapsed to a mere 149 runs. Rayad Emrit was the top bowler who took 3 wickets for the home side.

The home side didn’t start off well while chasing the target of 150 runs. They lost the 1st wicket in the 3rd over of the innings. Later Dwayne Smith and Shoaib Malik took their team to a total of 48 runs from where the middle stated to collapse. From 48/2 the team was reduced to 63/6. Carlos Brathwaite and Malik tried to find a way out but soon these two batsmen fell in succession. Malik before getting out scored 48 runs but he never got a support from his teammate to cross the target. The home team was bowled out by the visitors at a score of 122. Mohammad Hafeez took 3 wickets to win the match for Warriors. Martin Guptill was awarded the man of the match award. With this win the Tridents lost their 1st match in the CPL and Warriors earned 2 points.
