Chennai Wins to stay alive in the tournament - The 15th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 was played between Chennai Super Kings and the Perth Scorchers. This was a last of the matches for the Chennai team and they needed to win it to ensure that they have some good chances of qualifying. On the other hand a win for the scorchers would have meant an exit for the Chennai from the tournament. After winning the toss the Perth Scorchers decided to field first thinking a chase in the Bengaluru will be a better one.

Chennai didn’t get off to a good start as Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum scored 11 runs each and lost their wicket. The biggest wicket that fell was that of Suresh Raina who scored only 1 run before getting run out. In starting 6th over the team lost 3 wickets in the match. The wickets never stopped falling as Mithun Manhas and Dwayne Bravo was the next to go. Bravo scored 27 runs and left his team to a score of 79/5 in 15th over. Captain cool Mahindra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja managed to score important runs for the team. Dhoni scored 35 off 16 balls while Jadeja scored 44 off 28 balls taking their team to a score of 155 runs. Michael Beer was the top bowler who bowled giving away economy of 4 runs per over.

The Perth Scorchers required only a sensible batting to make it to the next round. The in the 1st 6 overs the team lost 2 of their batsmen. Adam Voges scored 27 runs while Mitchell Marsh scored 19 runs. In the 13th over of the game both the batsmen were back to their pavilion thus bringing in life to the match once again. Ashton Turner and Nathan Coulter-Nile looked strong while batting and it seemed that a win here is surely on cards. Chennai showed some great fielding display in running out Turner when he was at 22. Later Nile too lost his wicket in the 19th over leaving his team to 131/7. Yasir Arafat tried hard at the end but failed to win it for his team as they finished their batting at 142.

With this win the Chennai Super Kings earned 4 points thus having a better chance of qualifying due to their net run rate. Mahindra Singh Dhoni was selected as the Suzuki Gixxer Power Player of the match while Ravindra Jadeja was selected as the Oppo Man of the match. Both of them won USD 2500 as prize money.
