Late Batting display by the southern Express takes them to the finals - Western Troopers and Southern Express met in the eliminator of the Ultratech cement super 4’s Twenty 20 tournament. The winner of the game was all set to face the Udarata Rulers in the final of the tournament. After winning the toss in this all important match the Southern Express decided to field first. The Express had one of the best starts of the match as the dangerous inform batsman Udara Jayasundera lost his wicket in the second over of the match. Dilshan Munaweera and Bhanuka Rajapaksa both played sensibly to make sure that the team do not lose their path to a good total. Together they stitched a 50 run partnership. After getting a solid base for the innings the lower middle order and the tail enders collapsed. Last 5 wickets of the team were lost in the span of 12 runs only. Sahith Pathirana took 4 wickets giving away only 17 runs.

The Southern Express had a bad start as they lost 2 wickets scoring only 20 runs. Jehan Mubarak and Angelo Perera managed to hold onto the falling innings. At the score of 59 both the batsmen left the field bringing in hopes for the troopers. Soon the Express was derailed as the team reached a score of 77 runs losing 6 wickets. Later Farveez Maharoof and Seekkuge Prasanna managed to change the fortunes for the team as they managed to take their team to the finals of the tournament. Both the batsmen scored 42 and 36 runs respectively. Maharoof was named as the man of the match for the game.
