A commendable performance from Red Steels takes them to the top of the table - Trinidad & Tobago Red Steels played as hosts to the St Lucia Zouks in the 15th match of the CPL today. The Zouks in the match were looking to register their 1st win while a win for the home side would result into a top spot in the points table. After winning the toss the visitors decided to bat first. They hoped that the batsmen will find their form while batting first. The Zouks didn’t start off well as they lost 2 wickets in first 6 overs scoring only 33 runs. Roelof van der Merwe looked in good knick as he scored 21 runs but lost his wicket in the 9th over of the game. Keddy Lesporis too started off well but after scoring a bit lost his wicket easily. Later it was Darren Sammy who took charge of the proceedings. He scored 46 runs in just 35 balls. The lower order of the team collapsed drastically. From a score of 97/5 it came crashing down to 112/8. At the end of 20overs Zouks scored only 136 runs losing 9 wickets. Samuel Badree was the star performer with the ball as he took 2 wickets giving away 13 runs in his 4 overs.

It was an easy target for any team to achieve against a bowling line up searching for form. Kevin O’Brien and Evin Lewis gave their team yet another cracking start. Both the players had a 129 runs stand in the chase of 136. Lewis was the only wicket that fell in the Red Steel’s innings. He scored 77 runs in just 45 balls. On the other hand O’Brien contributed 55 runs in 44 balls. These two batsmen on their own won the match for the Red Steels. Evin Lewis was named as the man of the match for his outstanding batting performance.
